Translation & writing

Ukrainian poetry translation that still sounds like poetry.

I'm a poet and translator working between Ukrainian, English and Russian. I translate poems, songs and books so they keep their meaning, rhythm and feeling — and I write original texts in all three languages.

What I do

Literary translation, lyrics and bilingual writing.

I

Poetry translation

Ukrainian to English literary translation — and any direction between Ukrainian, English and Russian. Single poems, personal collections, work for publication.

II

Song lyrics

Song lyrics translation that can still be sung: rhyme, rhythm and emotional punch carried over. I also write original lyrics in all three languages.

III

Books and essays

Longer literary and cultural texts, translated with care for terminology, context and the author's voice.

IV

Bilingual ghostwriting

Texts in your voice for your website, posts or personal projects — in Ukrainian, English or Russian.

I also advise teams building Ukrainian or Russian learning apps on lesson content and learning design, drawing on 3,500+ lessons with real students.

Status
Published

A Ukrainian book on leadership and management in a crisis. The job was to carry every idea — and its urgency — into clear English: precise terminology, cultural context a foreign reader can follow, and the author's voice intact.

It's the kind of work I care about most: Ukrainian voices, heard beyond the language barrier.

Process

How I work.

  1. 01

    Read and talk

You tell me about the text, its readers and where it will live. I read it closely — meaning, images, sound.

  2. 02

    First draft

I translate meaning and form together, so the text works as a poem or song, not just as information.

  3. 03

    Rhythm and sound

I read it aloud and refine the rhythm and music; for lyrics, I check that every line can be sung.

  4. 04

    Your review

We go through the translation together, and I explain my choices and revise until it feels right.

Good questions

Questions about translation and writing.

  1. How much does a translation cost?

It depends on the length, the form and the deadline — a single poem is very different from a book. Send me the text or a sample and I'll reply with a quote.

  2. Which languages do you work in?

Ukrainian, English and Russian, in any direction. Ukrainian is my native language, and I write poetry in all three.

  3. Can you translate song lyrics so they can be sung?

Yes. I keep the syllable count, stresses and rhyme where possible. Sometimes the wording shifts slightly to fit the melody — I always explain those choices.

  4. How long does it take?

It depends on the project. When I send you a quote, I'll include a realistic date.

Поговорімо?

Have a text that needs the right words?

Tell me about your poem, song or book — the language, the length and your deadline — and I'll reply with how I'd approach it and a quote.
